About Damon
I am a web designer and front-end developer living in Portland, Oregon, with over 15 years’ experience helping clients develop their online brand. I’ve been told I play well with others and enjoy collaborating on web projects with teams of all sizes.
Web accessibility remediation and user interface design are specialities of mine. My passion for creating an inclusive user experience comes from my years working in social services. When I build solutions for the web, I consider every part of that experience—not just the front end your users will see, but the backend experience as well. If your content creators are struggling with data entry, they are not delivering you the best product that they could.
I’m intimately familiar with a variety of CMS (WordPress, Drupal, Big Commerce, Shopify, et al.) and peripherally familiar with more (Magento, NetSuite). I am eager to work outside of any framework or dependencies as well.
I strive to give my designs a tangible feeling. I believe, at its finest, the web can deliver an experience as beautiful as flipping through the pages of a magazine while simultaneously providing information as dynamic and easy to navigate as a wiki.
Animation brings me a particular pleasure. Interactive elements should be non intrusive while reinforcing the metaphor that the user’s experience is a physical interaction with a digital asset.
My other skills include product photography, light video editing, and anything you can throw at me.
When I’m not working, you can find me exploring Sellwood in search of cats or goats to pet, kayaking, fishing in Eastern Oregon, or serving my feline overlord (about 90% of my time; let’s be honest).
